Last week, Coaches across Continents announced it’s new role within the Urban Soccer Collaboration in the US and the April 23rd and 24th training program to benefit 75 programs. This week we can confirm our partnership with PLAY SOCCER Malawi. Following staff training at the Confederations Cup in Johannesburg in June, Coaches across Continents will provide up to 4 coaches for up to 6 weeks to work at the Malawi community programs (program details below).
“This is a great opportunity to work alongside a wonderful organization who have demonstrated that using football can bring about social change. We feel that our teacher training program and curriculum will help PLAY SOCCER Malawi to continue to move their program forward. It is an exciting partnership” Steve Wanless, Board of Directors, Coaches across Continents.
PLAY SOCCER Malawi information:
“PLAY SOCCER MALAWI continues to focus its efforts on the communities of Ndirande and Bangwe near Blantyre—- with huge demand to open the program in adjacent communities. Malawi has the largest number of participants of any country—–and could reach 8000 by year- end if funds permit. The program has received numerous visitors including representatives from the Q Fund who made an important contribution of funds to open a borehole at one site where no water had been available, either for the hundreds of PLAY SOCCER program children or the adjacent community school. The borehole project accompanied by a program enhancement plan for water, sanitation and hygiene topics have been an important community activity. PLAY SOCCER hopes to replicate this enhancement with additional boreholes and a link to other water/sanitation programs, such as UNICEF.”
