Coaches Across Continents Hat-Trick partners supporting World Aids Days, 2011.

December 1st, 2011.  Our partners in 7 countries have chosen to use the Coaches Across Continents Football against HIV curriculum as part of World Aids Day 2011.

In Tanzania, Coach Nico has launched a new initiative that has included young female sex workers who have formed a number of football teams and as well as playing games against each other are going to enjoy a number of educational games designed to promote behavior change to prevent HIV.  Coach  Nico was the first Coaches Across Continents partner and in 3 years has launched partnership programs in 4 Tanzanian communities.

In Uganda, Coach Richard at Buwate Youth Soccer and Coach Vidic at Friends of Orphans are working with their programs and local schools to build HIV education and awareness.

In South Africa, the outstanding Whizzkids program continue to be a global leader in the use of football against HIV and their year-round activities impact more than 7,000 young people in the area around Durban.  Using the Whizzkids designed curriculum alongside the Coaches Across Continents football skill training has enhanced both programs in 2011

In Kenya, our great partner VAP continue their year-round activities against HIV and will celebrate the day with a special game in Eastlands, Nairobi.

Coach Pappie continues his work in Liberia with further sessions for his players in and around Monrovia and building coach awareness on the power of football to make social change.

Our partnership with Slum Soccer, India has kicked off with a year 1 Hat-Trick Initiative and the 26 coaches have started to introduce the Football against HIV games with the children in the slums of Nagpur.

Our Ghanaian partner, Youth Icons have educated  100 teachers in Tamale, Northern Ghana with the Coaches Across Continents Football against HIV games and as part of the 24 week curriculum will educate more than 10,000 young people over the course of the next 4 months.
