Preparing for International Women’s Day 2013

February 26th, 2013.  International Women’s Day is just around the corner (March 8th) and many of CAC’s partners are getting ready to celebrate. Coaches Across Continents considers International Women’s Day to be one of the most important days of the year. There are over 6 million more women than men in the world, and women make up 66% of the world’s illiterate adults. Women not only must fight for a right to education in many countries but they are also raped and tortured in genocides and used as weapons of war. One in three women in the World are beaten, coerces into sex, or otherwise abused within her lifetime.
( , International Women’s Day is very important! Partners of CAC will use International Women’s Day as a tool to educate and help women throughout the world.
Our partners in Cameroon, Ghana, Liberia, Uganda, Kenya, and Haiti are all planning events for March 8th. Coaches Across Continents has sent games from our Female Empowerment module to assist our partners.
GOALS Haiti ( is planning on setting up a girls’ clinic run solely by women. They have witnessed many girls missing school to visit doctors, and not having direct access to female doctors. Girls in Haiti will be invited to the clinic after school hours where they will be able to see health presentations and get information on their health and bodies from other women. GOALS Haiti is organizing a wonderful day, CAC hopes the girls clinic will be a huge success!
